Indian Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla Creates History, Returns Safely to Earth from Space

Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has created history by returning safely to Earth after a remarkable journey to space. Shubhanshu Shukla spent 18 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and successfully completed a unique space mission as part of Axiom-4 along with three other astronauts. This mission has become a significant milestone not only for India but also on the global stage.

Under the Axiom-4 mission, SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft carrying all four astronauts safely splashed down in the sea near the coast of California, USA, at around 3:01 PM today. With this, the Axiom-4 mission concluded successfully and gloriously. This historic mission had commenced on June 25 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, from where the four astronauts were launched into space. Shubhanshu's journey has been etched in golden letters in the history of India’s space exploration.

Second Indian to Travel to Space After Rakesh Sharma

Shubhanshu Shukla's name now holds special significance in India's space history. After Rakesh Sharma's spaceflight in 1984, Shubhanshu has become only the second Indian to travel to space. However, Shubhanshu has set a new record by becoming the first Indian to visit the International Space Station (ISS). This achievement has showcased India's space capabilities and scientific excellence on a global platform.

Prime Minister Modi Congratulates Shubhanshu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his happiness over Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla's successful return. Sharing a post on social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“I join the entire nation in welcoming Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla back to Earth after his historic space mission. As the first Indian astronaut to visit the International Space Station, he has inspired millions with his dedication, courage, and pioneering spirit. This marks yet another milestone towards India’s human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan.”

The Prime Minister’s message became a matter of pride for all citizens, with people across the country celebrating Shubhanshu’s bravery and achievement on social media.

Celebrations in Lucknow

Shubhanshu Shukla hails from Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. His family home erupted in celebration following this historic achievement. Their house was decorated with lights, and posters of congratulations were displayed outside. Family members and well-wishers exchanged sweets and cut a cake to celebrate this proud moment. The entire city of Lucknow was filled with joy and pride.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Also Extended Greetings

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also shared his reaction on this historic occasion. In a post on 'X', he wrote:
“The successful return of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from the historic Axiom-4 mission is a moment of pride for every Indian. He has not only touched space but has also elevated India’s aspirations to new heights.”

He further added:
“His journey to the International Space Station and back is not just a personal achievement but also a proud step forward in India’s growing space ambitions. I wish him tremendous success in his future endeavours.”

A New Boost to India’s Space Aspirations

Shubhanshu Shukla's space journey opens a new chapter for India. His success has given fresh momentum to India’s upcoming human spaceflight mission ‘Gaganyaan’. This mission holds immense scientific significance and represents a major step in India's journey towards becoming a global space power.
